From Informal Science:

Margaret Glass, the program manager for the Association of Science Technology Centers, recently gave an update about Learning Labs in Libraries and Museums, a program funded by the MacArthur Foundation and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Begun in 2011, the project supports the planning and design of spaces where youth can pursue interest-driven activities using digital and traditional media. Twenty-four sites were awarded $100,000 each to spend in the planning and design of a learning space. The second cohort of Learning Labs sites will complete their design phase in June 2014. Glass’s post focuses on the research background for the program and challenges including partnerships and institutional buy-in.
