The Children’s Science Center, a nonprofit that has been offering Museum Without Walls programming in STEM fields for several years, announced plans last week to open two permanent locations in Northern Virginia. According to Children’s Science Center Executive Director Nene Spivy, these facilities will be the first hands-on, interactive STEM-based facilities in the area. Last year the Science Center’s Museums Without Walls programs served nearly 15,000 visitors at over 60 locations, including schools, libraries, and museums. The physical locations will aim to expand this reach and will include Exploration Stations, an Experiment Bar, a Tinkering Studio, and areas for younger visitors.
