A recent study, conducted by researchers at the University of Wisconsin: Madison’s Science, Media and the Public group, aimed to investigate two key types of knowledge assessment, factual and perceived knowledge, in the study of knowledge gaps between highly educated and lesser educated groups. The researchers tested different groups’ factual and perceived knowledge about nanotechnology. How the knowledge was measured affected the discovery of gaps between different groups and there were also differences in knowledge based on if people learned about nanotechnology through newspapers, television, or blogs.
